Getting around London
London is an old city, with much of it built in days when nobody thought about disability. However, with a bit of research and a willingness to give yourself extra time to reach your destination, you should be able to get to wherever you wish.

The London Underground
The London Underground is the most straightforward method of getting around London. However, for those of limited mobility, only sections of the underground are accessible to varying degrees.
This page by Transport for London (TfL) describes station accessibility
Buses
All buses are wheelchair accessible and are great way of getting around. However, you made need someone travelling with you, in order to tell the bus driver that the ramp is needed at the next stop. Bus drivers do not always take notice of the ramp request buzzer.
Taxis
All of London's licensed Taxis (i.e. black cabs) are wheelchair accessible and useable by individuals with a wide range of disabilities. However, they can be very expensive if you do not have a Taxicard. The Taxicard gives you very significant discounts on the use of Taxis. Go to the website to check that you are eligible to receive the card.
The Freedom Pass
If you qualify for the Freedom Pass, you will be entitled to use the Underground and Buses for free. Click here to find out more about the scheme.
